Dishes that You Can Prepare using Strawberries and Caramel

Sauce with strawberries and caramel:

  • 1 pound strawberries
  • 0.5 cup of sugar (granulated)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • one lemon’s juice

  • Prepare two half-pint jars and a hot water bath canner.
  • Strawberry leaves and hulls should be removed. Puree the berries in a blender until they are completely smooth. Remove from the equation.
  • In a small sauce pan, combine the sugar and water. Simmer for 10-15 minutes over medium-high heat, until the sugar reaches 250°F and darkens to the color of a tarnished copper penny.
  • Instead of stirring the simmering syrup, grab the pot’s handle and gently swirl it to move things around.
  • Remove the pot from the heat once the syrup has reached 250°F and whisk in the strawberry puree and lemon juice. Take care since it will bubble, splatter, and look to seize up.
  • Return the pot to the heat and stir the puree into the sugar until it becomes a smooth sauce. Continue to swirl and boil until the sauce reaches a temperature of 218°F.
  • Remove the caramel from the heat and pour it into the jars, leaving 1/2 inch of headspace. Clean the rims, put on the lids and rings, and process for 10 minutes in a boiling water bath canner.
